On this page, you will find some of the graduate work I completed through the Master of Arts in Education program at Michigan State University. Each piece represents my growth as an educator and is categorized into three sections: Technology Integration, Multicultural Education, and Literacy Instruction. These themes had the most impact on my learning where my beliefs were challenged, and new perspectives were discovered. Below, each artifact demonstrates my ability to interpret, implement, and reflect on new skills regarding each theme. Click on the image or button of each project to view an artifact.
Technology has become an integral part of 21st century classrooms, allowing teachers to develop strategies and methods for teaching school subject matter. I have explored the benefits and implications of various platforms as well as improved my knowledge of digital literacy, and digital citizenship, for purposeful educational outcomes.

Reflecting on Diversity
The literacy focused courses I engaged in have enhanced my understanding of all language modalities as identified in research. I have reflected on topics such as language diversity, literacy policies, and children’s film and literature in order to interpret how my beliefs influence my instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

The Wizard of Oz- Cultural Appropriation
Write Something New!
This genre exploration project gave me an opportunity to revisit the writing process in a blog post as well as a personal narrative. Creating these pieces exercised my ability to use writing elements based on the genre, make appropriate revisions, and reflect on the experience from a student’s point of view.

My Heritage Project
The purpose of this Heritage Project was to investigate the language backgrounds in my family and discover language diversity through my personal context. I completed this project in my Language Diversity and Literacy Assessment course which provided me with the opportunity to reflect on how the knowledge of my heritage can be translated into a classroom of diverse students.
